Philosophy of
Leadership
Philosophy of Education: I believe the goals of education are…
Vision for Teachers: Teachers have a very difficult task. As an educator, I have had some of the worst experiences possible and some of the best experiences possible. I believe great teachers are organized, have high character, and will partner with administrators to create a culture that promotes excellence in education.
Vision for the Organization: The school building should be run in a way that is effective and conducive to student learning. Just as I have high expectations for students and teachers, I will have high expectations for support staff and custodial staff. I want a school that maintains a clean facility with everyone working together to create a culture of high expectations.
Vision for Professional Growth: I feel that every educator must be a life-long learner. I believe that through professional development and continuing education, teachers gain ways to be a more affective educator. I also believe that the day a teacher decides to stop learning, is a day that many students will suffer.
Method of Vision Attainment: As I have gone through this program and work on many assignments, I keep coming back to defining clear expectations for success. I think this is because as a band director, the only way I can help my students achieve success is through high expectations. I followed this vision for three years at Iowa-Grant and enjoyed great success building a program out of almost nothing. I am now starting this vision over at Clinton High School. It has taken seven months of working with students who disagree with me constantly, to finally reach the first step. I will attain my vision of what programs should be because of “reciprocal respect and high expectations for everyone, including me!”
Philosophy of Education: I believe the goals of education are…
- To ensure a quality education for all students
- To increase rigor and relevance in all academics
- To create leaders for tomorrow
- To provide a safe learning environment for
everyone
